Standing for: Braintree Town
Colin Riches lives in Braintree. He is a graduate Chemist and has been a teacher since 1997. He is an uncle and a single dad.
He is very supportive of the need to make sure that our future is environmentally sustainable so that Essex is cleaner and greener ready for the generations who will follow us.
Colin believes that Covid has exposed inequalities that have been there for too long and that there is a need to refocus on better support for children and families. Whilst there is a need to balance the books, Colin believes we need to place greater value on what is really valuable – such as hard working nurses who deserve more than a 1% pay rise.
Covid has resulted in an economic cost which is still emerging. Braintree needs to build back better but do so by the local community having a big say – really taking back control.
As an Independent candidate, Colin is free to represent Braintree town’s interests. He is from the center ground of politics, pragmatic, and sees good policies from both left and right.
